KIM DOWD

t zero book cover

Inspired by the work of Italo Calvino, I grew typography in petri dishes to visually express his thoughts on nature, man, protean beings, the cosmos and the smallest forms of life. The process included agar, lemon juice, apples, an Exacto knife, two weeks and a camera. I opted to pair a traditional font, Caslon, with this presentation style in hopes of retaining legibility. I photographed the letters and I integrated them into a book cover and series
